About Ukraine


Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine. Ukraine is situated in eastern Europe, bordered by Russia to the east and northeast, Belarus to the northwest, Poland and Slovakia to the west, Hungary Romania and Moldova to the southwest, and the black sea and sea of Azov to the south and southeast respectively including Crimea, Ukraine has an area of 603,628 km sq (233,062  sq mi), making it the largest country entirely within Europe and the 46th largest country in the world ,and a population of about 44.5 million, making it the 32nd most populous country in the world.

The country has the sea boarders with Turkey, Bulgaria and Georgia.

Ukraine is a state with the democratic form of governing, headed by the nation-wide elected president. The Verkhovna Rada (the Ukranian parliament) is the highest legislative body. It consists of 450 members, elected for 4-term in accordance with the proportional majority system. On August 24, 1991 Ukraine declared itself an independent state. In an effort to rebuild the country of Ukraine has opened her doors to foreign investors, businessmen, and foremost to tourists.

Ukraine has always been hospitable and friendly, always happy to receive foreign businessmen, foreign guests, tourists and students.

Ukraine has a well-developed economy with considerable portions of agricultural and industrial sectors. Space and rocket engineering, aircraft and ship building, high tech equipment production are among the main branches of the Ukrainian industry.

Cultural life of national minorities in Ukraine – Bulgarian, Greek, Jewish, Crimean Tartar, German, Polish, Russian, Romanian, Hungarian and dozens of others – is very diversified. A system of national schools, libraries, mass media, scientific centers, radio and television, theaters and creative societies is being developed. Languages of all peoples inhabiting the territory of Ukraine are granted equality on the state level.


Ukraine has the Europe’s largest international students populations, with nearly 30,000 students from the mid 1990’s when international students enrollment was only just reaching 6,000. International education in the Ukraine has came a long way at present there are more than 5,000 Indian students studying in Ukraine in different universities.

Foreign students study in region full of surprising contrast of which they quickly become a part of , especially during the many festivals and the intense cultural life, for which the region and the country is famous. Ukraine has always been open for foreign students. there is huge number of institute of higher education in Ukraine and over 30,000 international students are enrolled in various institutions. the international students community in Ukraine comprises boy and girl from all over the world, who have the invaluable experience of studying together with students from many different cultural and national backgrounds.


Bus and rail transport in Ukraine connect all major urban areas, port facilities and industrial centers with neighbouring countries.

Kiev Boryspil is the country largest international airport other large airports in the country includes those in Kharkiv, Lviv, Donetsk. Ukraine has a number of airlines, flag carrier,  Aerosvit  and UIA.

Ukraine is linked with most major European cities. Most international flights go to Ukraine.International trains enter Ukraine from several countries. Sail by ship is also available between various cities in the black sea and Mediterranean. All official land border crossings into Ukraine are unrestricted, if you have a visa ahead of time.

Getting between major Ukrainian cities is best done by train and also by flight. They are frequent , cheap and often convenient journey. There are bus services to most cities and towns. Taxi services are numerous in Ukraine. For foreigners an international driving license is required to drive automobiles in Ukraine.


Ukraine occupies 8th place in Europe by the number of tourists, visiting according to World tourism organization ranking, due to its numerous tourist attraction, mountain ranges suitable for skiing, hiking and fishing;the black sea coastline as a popular summer destination, nature reserves of different ecosystem.
